VIZIO is looking for a multi-talented and experienced team player who is passionate about expanding and improving the corporate brand through PR strategy, product reviews, corporate social responsibility, social media and innovative brand communication, to help VIZIO become known as the greatest technology brand in the world!


The Director of Public Relations will work closely with product, sales, marketing, external agencies and the executive teams to set and execute strategic public and media relations, social media strategies as it pertains to media relations, brand events, partnership programs and more. Responsibilities will range from setting PR strategy for both the brand and the products, managing external public relations agencies, developing and maintaining relationships with key media and influencer contacts—particularly with enthusiast and technical media—drafting, editing and managing press releases, managing executives during industry events and more. The position will also be responsible for working with the engineering and product teams during the development phase to provide technical evaluations of future products, in accordance with how the technical press rate and rank audio and video performance and features, so as to help improve future product reviews and feature story opportunities.


The Director of Public Relations will manage the day-to-day public relations activities with the agencies of record. This key hire will report directly to the Senior Director of Product Marketing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Create and execute overall corporate PR strategy
  • Manage PR Agency for external media communications
  • Field day-to-day inquiries from PR agency and key technical media
  • Technical evaluation of future products and current media-related issues
  • Draft, edit and manage press release creation and review
  • Distribute weekly/monthly and ad-hoc reports on media outreach
  • Develop media relations strategies for editorial calendar milestones
  • Help craft media messaging and talking points
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required
  • 8+ years of related work experience
  • Proficient in Cision or similar media tracking software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar, especially PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Deep experience with consumer electronics, especially TV and Home Theater products
  • Exceptional verbal and copywriting skills
  • Ability to interact with marketing, sales and product/engineering departments
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed skills including ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, including adaptability to fluid and last-minute changes
